WORDS

We have challenged our kids to be gentle with their words. It seems as they get older the more they disrespect each other. It has been a challenge to get them to think before speaking. It has been more of a challenge for some of them than others. Even as parents we sometimes forget the power that our words have.

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

How often do we as parents say negative things to our children? Even jokingly we make comments about their behaviors and things they do. So I am also challenging myself to only speak words that edify. Friends hold me accountable for the words I speak.

Ephesians 4:2929 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
